Bright idea leads to sharing my Eclectic Tales® journey
Welcome! You’ve found Eclectic Tales®, my author website that has just that.
You’ve discovered my creations so far, Karly in Pure of Heart, and Friendly Flynn in The Bunny Basket Collection. Two character driven books that reflect my eclectic writing style from sci-fi/fantasy/adventure to children’s verse. There are 10 books in The Bunny Basket Collection, the plan is to publish them all this year.
Keep checking back for the next book in the series, collect all 10 & discover the 11th story divided up across the back covers!
You’ve also probably noticed a link to my subreddit that showcases a collection of literary works from other self-published authors.
In January 2025, I set up r/EclecticTales® on Reddit with the purpose of advertising my books. I mentioned to a family member how difficult it is to get yourself seen and heard as a self-published author, and she had an inspiring idea, why not share?
So here we are, the link to r/EclecticTales® is here. I am so proud of how other self-published authors have shared their stories. From LGBTQIA+, YA fantasy and children’s books, to books that tackle big subjects in creative ways.
Taking the ultimate leap into believing in yourself and showing the world your creative talents deserves a boost from, not just family and friends, but also strangers who want to read something new. Whether this spurs a future publishing deal, or loyal lifelong readers, many great writers have started by self-publishing first.
James Oswald (a personal favourite) of the Inspector McLean series fame, Margaret Atwood of The Handmaid’s Tale fame, and even Beatrix Potter started their careers by self-publishing.
Every book on r/EclecticTales® gives you a link to the selling page on whichever platform it’s available on, or the relevant document reader if it’s free. I’m sure you will enjoy these stories as much as I have, you can read some of my book reviews on r/EclecticTales®. I hope that you will join me and write your reviews on there too.
Finally for this month, this is not an impersonal website, it’s a reflection of me. You’ll notice there’s an ‘Ask Susan’ page. I like to help, if you have a question you can message me there. It comes personally to me and I will reply.
