If you read my April blog you will know that my next project is a trilogy. My son Cody and I are writing this one together. I started this fantasy story, and whilst discussing it after writing the first chapter, he had some great ideas to expand on my storyline. I’m still doing the writing, but we’re collaborating our ideas every step of the way.
     I can now tell you exclusively that the trilogy’s overarching title is The CalmFire Trilogy and the first book will be titled… Heartbeat: Syra’s story.
     That doesn’t give a lot away, but all three books are set in a brand new world of my creation. As a 3D artist, Cody will be bringing this world to life in the form of a 3D interactive map which will be found here on eclectictales.uk nearer to the release date. The map will grow as each book is released so readers can follow along. I’m looking forward to also adding fact files here on the different places mentioned in the books, and on each of the main characters.
     Like my novel Pure of Heart, there will be twists and turns in these books to keep you guessing, but this time the genre is pure fantasy. There will be plenty of mystery and adventure, secrets and danger too. First comes Syrana’s story, affectionately called Syra by her parents, you will find she is quite unique!
     So far, I have written for adults and young children. I was recently asked to write for Young Adults so there was something suitable for everyone in my collection of eclectic tales.
     I took this idea, did some research and was happily surprised that all my ideas for the CalmFire trilogy fitted quite well for a YA age group and for older readers too. Therefore, with minor adaptations, I can happily say that this trilogy will be written for YA readers of all ages.
     The joy of writing fantasy, and especially creating a new world, is that your imagination has no restrictions. The trilogy is set on Terbous, a planet in a different solar system where the inhabitants have the ability to exist on land and in water. The Lumea are able to seamlessly move from one environment to the other, through towns and cities above and below. Many stories focus on either land or water for their characters, but if you’ve read my other books, you’ll know that I like the storyline to have the conflict and not the characters for just being themselves.
     For now, I’m still writing, snatching moments where I can get them. The story foundations are in place, the plot is building, and the cliffhanger awaits for the end of book 1. More to follow nearer the time…
